Growth Mindset - The Magic of Mistakes

Talofa Lava everyone,
Room 23 agreed that everyone makes mistakes, but the wise learn from them.  We feel that the hidden magic in every mistake is learning from it. To learn from our mistakes, we have to first acknowledge that we have made one, fix it, and start fresh.

Samoan Language Week 2020 - Introduction

Talofa Lava Room 23

Welcome to Samoan Language Week 2020.

The theme for this year's  Samoan Language Week , "Tapena sou oso mo lau malanga" means to "Prepare yourself a gift for your travels".

When we prepare for travel, we take everything we have learnt from our families and communities with us, allowing us to share our oso (gifts), alofa (love) and tatalo (prayers). With these gifts we build, nurture and strengthen our relationships, with both aiga (family), ekalesia (churches) and uo (friends).

Language and culture are vital sources to our identity. They are our source of strength, grounding us and giving us confidence. Speaking our languages provides us with an intimate sense to our identity and our story, giving us a clear sense of belonging.

Character Web of Bradley Chalkers

Hi everyone!!!

Room 23 has started reading the story 'There's a boy in the girl's bathroom' by Louis Sachar.  We have only read up to chapter 8. The main character is Bradley Chalkers
and we think that he is a very interesting character.

We think that his behaviour at school is different from when he is at home. At school, he is aggresive and at home he is very calm around his family and his toys.

Have you read this book?  If so what would you do if you meet Bradley at school?

Become a Te Reo Bubble Teacher!

Kia Ora Room 23

Time for you to become a Bubble Teacher!

Whaea Carol has made a video to help students at Owairaka learn some Te Reo words for objects around the house and to practise their counting.

There will be people in your bubble who would love to learn what you have already learnt in our Te Reo lessons with Whaea Carol.

Watch the video together and help them practice the new kupe. Go on, it will be fun!
